DROPKICK MURPHYS
RETURN TO THE ROAD AUGUST 5
FOR WESTERN U.S. SHOWS
INCLUDING EIGHT VANS WARPED TOUR DATES

After a brief break from their worldwide touring schedule, Dropkick Murphys will hit the road again this week for U.S. dates in Reno (August 5) and Las Vegas (August 6) and a stint on the Vans Warped Tour from August 7-15.

Dropkick MurphysKen Casey (vocals, bass guitar), Al Barr (vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, backing vocals), James Lynch (guitar, backing vocals), Tim Brennan (guitar, accordion, piano, backing vocals), Jeff DaRosa (mandolin, accordion, banjo, bouzouki, tin whistle, acoustic guitar) and Scruffy Wallace (bagpipes)—are touring in support of their Live On Lansdowne, Boston MA CD/DVD (Born & Bred Records/ILG), which captures the intensity and camaraderie of 2009's sold-out St. Patrick's Day week hometown shows in Boston. Following in the tradition of 2002's Live On St. Patrick's Day From Boston MA—which has sold over 250,000 copies worldwide—Live On Lansdowne features an entirely different 20-song set list, including the group's platinum-selling single "I'm Shipping Up To Boston."

While on tour, Dropkick Murphys have received widespread acclaim for their live shows. Here's a sample below:

"The Celtic punk band played an energetic set with songs like 'God Willing,' 'Fields of Athenry' and 'I'm Shipping Up to Boston' in Sunday's afternoon's brutal climate."

—Brian Mansfield, USAToday.com, June 14, 2010 (Bonnaroo coverage)

"…There were righteous odes to the working man—including a revved up cover of the classic, still-blistering 'Which Side Are You On?'—and tributes to our armed forces. Hardscrabble fighter 'Irish' Micky Ward got his due with 'The Warrior's Code.' Breakneck punk rock songs that managed to highlight an irresistible melody inside the swirl of power chords and catharsis—as on 'Sunshine Highway' and 'As One'—were well represented…As the band's records have grown more nuanced over the years, so have its shows with layers of instrumental flavors—a melancholy barroom piano, a rich string quartet, a pas de deux for banjo and accordion, the wheeze and flutter of bagpipes and tin whistle—more ably mixed into the proceedings…Toss in ringleted step dancers—one of whom sang along with infectious glee while high kicking—and the one-two punch of Al Barr and Casey's lovably gruff shout-singing and you can see and hear why some traditions endure."

—Sarah Rodman, Boston Globe, March 15, 2010

"…there were kids as young as 5 and seniors as old as 87 at the sold-out House of Blues…Dropkick Murphys play a harsh and frenzied brand of fist-in-the-air Celtic punk rock. It just happens to be fun for the whole family."

—Jim Sullivan, Boston Herald, March 14, 2010

"…the Murphys raged for a sold-out, psychotically amped-up crowd…the Murphys did what they do best: put on a kick-ass, raw-boned rock show…Onstage, young girls in brightly colored Irish step-dancing costumes hopped and jigged, while beer and sweat flew in the circle pit as would-be crowd surfers momentarily caught air before crashing back into the melee…When Casey roared the opening lines to 'Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya,' everyone in the house joined in on the chorus, howling 'hurroo, hurroo' with what felt a little like love."

—Alexandra Cavallo, Boston Phoenix, March 18, 2010

"…a party it's impossible not to enjoy."

—Paul Travers, Kerrang!, May 1, 2010

In other news, Dropkick Murphys continue their work with The Claddagh Fund (www.claddaghfund.org), the charity established by DKM founding member Ken Casey in support of non-profits that champion the causes of children, veterans and those suffering from alcohol and drug addiction. The First Annual Claddagh Fund Celebrity Golf Tournament co-hosted by NHL Hall Of Famer Bobby Orr will take place September 10 in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Play is offered at two incredible courses: The Golf Club of Cape Cod and Ballymeade Country Club, with an awards reception dinner to follow with prizes, an auction, and a shoot out finale with the top shooters from both courses. Ken Casey co-host Bobby Orr will be joined by additional celebrity guests at the event which will raise money for The Claddagh Fund.
