MONSTER ENERGY'S AFTERSHOCK FESTIVAL
BIGGER THAN EVER
WITH OVER 37,000 FANS IN ATTENDANCE
SEPTEMBER 13 & 14 AT
SACRAMENTO'S DISCOVERY PARK
Monster Energy's AFTERSHOCK Festival's third year was bigger than ever with over 37,000 fans in attendance—including a sold-out show on Sunday—for the September 13 & 14 festival held at Discovery Park near downtown Sacramento, CA.
California's biggest rock festival grew to four stages in 2014 and featured a massive hard rock, alternative, punk, and metal lineup including Godsmack, Weezer, The Offspring, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Limp Bizkit, Rise Against, Chevelle, AWOLNATION, Seether, Mastodon, Pennywise, Bad Religion and many more.
In addition to the music, concertgoers were entertained by various onsite sponsor experiences, including the Crazy Dave's Music Experience, a free, interactive "rock star" exhibit which saw over 10,000 visitors during the Monster Energy's AFTERSHOCK Festival weekend. At Crazy Dave's, fans got hands-on interaction with tons of musical equipment, attended artist signings with members of Five Finger Death Punch, Otherwise, Nothing More, Lacuna Coil and more, and had the chance to participate in a "30 Seconds to Shred" competition. Monster Energy's AFTERSHOCK Festival and Crazy Dave's Music Experience also hosted a group of local music students each day who received a backstage educational tour and participated in various contests and activities at the Crazy Dave's Music Experience tent throughout the day.
As in past years, Monster Energy's AFTERSHOCK Festival generated a substantial economic impact in the Sacramento metro area, with ticket buyers travelling from around the country and various parts of the world.
"We're so happy that the Sacramento region—and fans from around the country and world—are embracing Monster Energy's AFTERSHOCK Festival and we're already planning for next year's festival," says festival creator/producer Danny Wimmer of Danny Wimmer Presents. "We hope to continue to expand the festival experience and are always interested in feedback from the fans who have helped AFTERSHOCK to grow bigger every year."
A wide range of media were in attendance at Monster Energy's AFTERSHOCK Festival. Here's a sample of what they had to say in their coverage:
"…it is Aftershock that has provided the strongest evidence that music festivals can thrive in Sacramento."
—Edward Ortiz, Sacramento Bee, September 13, 2014
"…a multi-generational metal fest."
—Cristina Mendonsa, News10 ABC, September 13, 2014
"Two days, four stages, 46 bands, and 37,000 of your closest friends enjoying triple digit heat at Sacramento's No. 1 music event. That was this year's Aftershock Festival by the numbers: a sweaty, dusty celebration of punk, alternative and almost all 31 flavors of metal."
—James Stafford, Loudwire.com, September 17, 2014
"Weezer closed out a metal-packed Day One at Aftershock on Saturday, and despite the obvious genre shift the nerd-rock champions rose to the challenge with a hits-packed and career-spanning set…we watched legions of black-clad, sweating kids with menacing scowls rocking the eff out to…'Back To The Shack.' In all, the 'Hash Pipe' rockers ended Aftershock 2014's kickoff with one hell of a solid performance. [Day 1]
"It was a riotously rockin' good time at Aftershock's sold-out 2014 incarnation, as the sun scorched 30,000 metalheads to cinders and Rob Zombie, Mastodon, Lacuna Coil, Rise Against, Five Finger Death Punch and more delivered a juggernaut of hard rock and metal to Sacramento's Discovery Park." [Day 2]
—Johnny Firecloud, Crave Online, September 15 & 16, 2014
